Transitional First Floor Redesign

In this conceptual school project, the couple wanted to reclaim their underutilized front room and dining room, transforming them into meaningful spaces for gathering, relaxing, and connecting with guests. They envisioned warm, welcoming rooms that would truly inspire them to spend more time there. Their key requests included sufficient seating, improved lighting, the removal of outdated trim and molding, and a timeless color palette that felt like home.

I reimagined these overlooked areas into a cohesive, inviting lounge and dining space by embracing a transitional design style that blends traditional comfort with modern simplicity. I resolved the previously crowded layout, refreshed the dull color palette, and removed the dated chair rails and molding. By highlighting the natural morning light and introducing overhead lighting, the design creates warmth, balance, and functionality. The final concept offers timeless, comfortable spaces that encourage connection and meaningful moments with the people they love.
