Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Remodel

In this conceptual school project, this family envisioned a brighter, more functional kitchen with increased storage, expanded counter space, and additional seating for hosting. They wanted abundant natural light, a central island, and thoughtful use of their existing bay window. Most importantly, they wanted a modern space that felt motivating, comfortable, and inviting—a space that would inspire them to spend even more time in the heart of their home.
I transformed their small, dark, and cluttered kitchen into a light-filled, highly functional space by blending light farmhouse, traditional, and modern elements. My design addressed the cramped layout and poor lighting while moving away from the dated yellow-orange-brown palette. I focused on creating a kitchen that could support their active lifestyle—one where multiple people could cook comfortably, gather naturally, and feel inspired to spend time together.
