French Country Kitchen Remodel

For this conceptual school project, the family envisioned transforming their kitchen into an open floor plan designed for entertainment. Their vision included a large island that would serve as both a functional workspace and a natural gathering point for guests. Another key request was a walk-in pantry to provide sufficient storage while keeping the main kitchen area clutter-free. This reimagined kitchen would create an inviting environment where cooking and conversation flow seamlessly together.
To achieve this vision, I embraced a French-country shaker style that aligned with the client's wishes. I revised the floor plan by reconfiguring the layout. The powder room was slightly reduced in size to increase dining space, the wall opening to the living room was widened to enhance flow and guest interaction while entertaining, an L-shaped walk-in pantry was added, and a hallway was introduced leading to the powder room to provide privacy. These thoughtful adjustments transformed the layout into a cohesive, open environment that supports both everyday living and entertaining.
